Braces!

I just got braces. I feel really rediculous with them on. My mouth feels like it's full all the time. But my mom and dad say that I'll get used to it. I hope so. I also found this really cool poem about braces that I want you to read.

Ode to Braces
by Shoshanah Aborn
The maloccluded human race
Pays tribute to the wondrous brace.
Just a few short years of debt'll
Trap you teeth in wires of metal.
So what if we must sacrifice
Everything in life that's nice?
Eating sliced apples and mushy pears,
Corn off-the-cob, really, who cares?
With braces on, we must think twice
Before we suck a cube of ice.
Pencils to gnaw and bread with crust
Are pushed aside to gather dust.
The fate of our teeth is in our hands,
And too much pressure breaks the bands.
We grit our teeth, suppress our screams,
And chew on caramels in our dreams.
The nicknames' origins, we feel,
Come not from a mouth bound in steel.
"Tinsel Teeth" is long since stale,
And "metal Mouth" is at its tail
But those who play the insult game
Behave as though they'd coined the name.
We know they'll stop in a short while,
So we just smile a metal smile
And look for wires on those we hate that we may retaliate.
Brace wearers are a patient lot.
We must be, considering what
We go through-sore gums wax-padded,
Oatmeal when tight wires are added,
And other such indignities That go along wearing these.
But we just hold our heads up high;
On orthodontists' chairs we lie,
For they're the ones who control the rate
At which our crooked teeth turn straight.
In mirror dreamily we gaze,
And eagerly we count the days
Till we'll display our brand-new bite
With teeth now back to gleaming white.
And here's a thing that I just made:

I'm Back

I just barely got back from my trip and man o man am I glad that I went. I learned to play badmitten which I'm actually not that bad at. I also learned to widdle which in the process of learning cut my finger when I did it in the dark. I also got to bond with my friend and her family. But I also really missed my parents. I've never gone this long away from my family all by myself. But I had a great time and hope to go again!

Today I feel excited! I'm going on a trip with my friend today with her family. But the thing I'm a little nervous about is that my parents won't be there with me. I'll miss them but I know that I'll be having an amazing and fun time! So I'll write you back when I get home but until then, BYE!

Summer!

It's summer!Hooray! It's been really fun! But I do miss my friends a lot. I also miss all of the teachers. But I like being able to spend a lot of quality time with my family.

We have a lot of things that we're going to do. Tyler cousins, Raspberry days, footloose, me and my sister's birthdays, birthday parties, families birthday, Abba, Colorado Springs, trying out for the star spangled banner with my sister, and so much more.

I remember that on the last day of school I brought a camera and took a lot of pictures. For the past week I've been begging my mom to develope them until she finally did. I love my pictures soo much. They make me feel really happy!!

To pass time over the summer I've been reading my book "My sister's Keeper" and I'm almost finished. I've also tried calling my friends as much as I can so I can stay in contact with them. But the thing I've been doing everyday is drawing pictures of my friends adn sister from the yearbook and from the pictures I took on the last day of school!

So don't be bored, spend time with family and have fun! Bye!!!

The great history mystery and 20 dollar wonder

I know, it's the first week of summer and you don't want to learn anything but this may change your mind...
Hope you enjoy!
Have a history teacher explain this ...... if they can.....:)
Abraham Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846
John F Kennedy was elected to congress in 1946
Abraham Lincoln was elected to President in 1860
John F Kennedy was elected to President in 1960
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights
Both wives last their children while living in the White House
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat....

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'

Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker......

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Creepy huh..?

Send this to as many people as you can, cause..Hey, this is one history lesson people probably Will not mind reading..!Who Figured This Out..?Incredible

NOW CHECK THIS OUT!

1. Fold a new pink $20 bill in half..

2. Fold again, taking care to fold it exactly as below.
3. Fold the other end, exactly as before..

4. Now, simply turn it over..

A simple geometric fold creates a catastrophic premonition printed on all $ 20

bills..!!

Talent Day!

Today was Talent Day in choir and man was it fun! I tried singing "Don't stop believing" by Journey today for it and I didn't really know the words so I just went up there really nervous. Luckily, I have awesome friends that cheered me on and clapped when I asked the audience to. I thought I'd done really bad and just embarassed myself but my friends, the sub and girls from the class said I did a really good. So, thanks guys for giving me a great time and a whole lot of support. I love you guys! :)
